Here are a few ideas of floor plan layouts for the Hale-8
which we have produced for some of our clients...
Pick one of them, or use these ideas to come up with your own
personalized interior living space!
Here is a sample Hale-8 that also qualifies
as a "Hawaii Efficiency Studio". We are also providing you
with some estimated building cost ranges, depending upon how you want to
approach your building project:

Here are some photos of a Hale-8 studio cottage
with a half-loft inside, above the kitchen...
The wall panels were ordered taller to allow for more
vertical room in the sleeping loft.
Downstairs is an open kitchen/living area with a 10' x 20'
sleeping loft above:
And there is a bathroom extension that you can see on the
right side of the above photo.
More on extensions, coming next...
It is possible to extend (with a rectangular extension) or expand
(with radiating sections) the basic Hale-8 design, and to add
various kinds of decks, open or covered. Here are a few ideas . . .
Here's another extended Hale-8 floor
plan. This floor plan has an
open living space with the high open-beam ceiling, and an extension containing the kitchen
and bathroom, besides a covered entry area and a carport:
It is possible to add wrap-around
lanais and/or rooms, on all or part of your Hale.
Here is an idea for expanding the Hale-8
with some radiating room extensions:

Here is an "Expanded Hale-8 Studio",
with a Full 8-sided Wrap-Around Covered Lanai which accommodates a bathroom and kitchen under
part of the expanded roof area:
And you can see from the above, that your options for adding
more rooms on the covered lanai area are up to your creativity and your own lifestyle
needs. With those open lanai areas, you already have
the floor and ceiling constructed. It is an easy matter to add walls at
any time, and you will have additional rooms that you can use for various
purposes.
You can build expanded Hales on post-and-pier, or on a concrete pad foundation, whichever you like:
You can have 8', 9' or 10'
expanded lanai and room areas, for example. Extending outwards means you will want to build
higher walls on the main Hale-8, so that the extended roof over
your lanai/outer rooms will still be high enough for a good view out of all the
windows.
Here is a sample plan with 2
bedrooms, kitchen and bath added
and full wrap-around lanai. It also includes some estimated cost
ranges to build a home like this here in Hawaii:
